If you’re not in Victoria but still want to get in on the Drupal action, fear not. With 263 parties planned in 90 countries, there’s sure to be one in your area—even if you’re in Mauritius.
Drupal’s creator, Dries Buytaert, estimated that over 1000 contributed to Drupal 7. That’s rather impressive, considering the most recent version of WordPress only had 218 contributors.
In his blog, Buytaert mentioned that Drupal 7 is dramatically different compared to its predecessor. Drupal 7 is nicer looking, more powerful and more scalable. And with over 28,000 automated tests and thousands of existing Drupal 7 sites, it’s the most tested and most stable version to date. It’ll also function differently, making life easier for designers, developers and administrators. In Buytaert’s words, Drupal 7’s development is “like watching a cocoon grow into a butterfly: the inevitable results are going to be spectacular.”
